The process of installing the extensions is simple. You’ll need to gather a few items before you begin:

• Your feather hair extensions, of course
• A micro bead or micro link – this is a small bead with grooves inside that grip the hair. You can also buy them with silicone inside. The silicone helps them hold even better.
• Crimping tool or needle nose pliers
• A threading needle (you can also use a crochet hook if you don’t have a professional threading needle, but it’s not as easy to use)

Once you’ve gathered your supplies, follow these steps:

1. Part your hair whenever you’d like to position the feathers.
2. Take up a section of hair approximately 1/8 inch in width. You can wet this strand if you wish.
3. Put the micro link (bead) onto the threading needle or crochet hook. If you’re using a threading needle, pull the hair through the center of the needle and push the bead onto the strand of hair. If you’re using a crochet hook, hook the hair and pull it, pushing the bead up onto the strand.
4. Hold the bead in place just below the scalp.
5. Push feathers through the bead, leaving a small amount of the feather sticking out the top to ensure a firm grip on the feathers. You don’t want them falling out early.
6. Use pliers or a crimping tool to flatten the bead completely. This traps the feathers and the strand of hair together inside the bead.

These extensions should stay in your hair for up to several weeks. When they come out, you can save the feathers and put them back in. They should last even through washing and brushing your hair.
